Domestiques is a strong debut album from the Delgados; it blows pretty much every other album in the genre out of the water except, of course, Peloton and The Great Eastern. These 14 songs, getting in under the gun at 40 minutes, are the first giant steps from a band that would soon be leaping long before it looked, or so the cliché goes.8/
  5. Brarn says:
The Delgados were a Scottish indie rock band who formed in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire in after friends Alun Woodward (vocals/guitar), Stewart Henderson (bass) and Paul Savage (drums) were forcibly ejected from the band by Paul's then-girlfriend Emma Pollock (vocals/guitar), the band chose to name themselves after Tour de France winning cyclist Pedro Delgado.

Mar 08,  · This album is probably the most catchy and immediate of this Scottish band's two albums. The charm of the Delgados is the way they shape songs around Alun and Emma's distinct voices (I prefer Emma's, but then she gets to sing the best hooks). It's pop with surprises.4/5(8).
  8. Vulkree says:
The Delgados were never the quickest of artists when it came to recording and this album had a fairly protracted birthing process. The songs were pretty much divided equally between those written by Emma and the ones that Alun had come up with. On reflection, Domestiques is a hugely entertaining album - quite diverse actually and full of great.
  9. Dishicage says:
I cannot possibly do this album justice in words - it has to be heard to be appreciated. Check out Peloton & the Great Eastern also, but call here first. Domestiques is as close to a perfect album as I've found - it offers great range of songs, depth & incite, plus a refreshingly original sound. The Delgados are truly brilliant. Give them your.
